A Silk Revolution.

At Golden One we bring silk garments to you at a more affordable price.
Silk is a fabric that we believe is underestimated and underutilized in design, when it is used, it is usually expensive and therefore many people miss the opportunity to experience its wonders. Silk is a natural hypoallergenic yarn made by the silk worm. Unassumingly it can keep you warm and cool, it drapes to perfection, repels perspiration, the list of performance benefits is lengthy.
Silk is referred to as a second skin, once worn you will never go back as it caresses the skin like no other fabric can. We believe that everyone should be able to wear silk, pressed or crinkled and not saved for that special event.
Our range is designed in a mindful way, ensuring: femininity, timelessness, easy fit, comfort and a duality of purpose in each piece. (See our tutorial videos for information on each style)Dreamy garments, that the creative wearer can play with, tie and reverse! Who wants to throw away a silk garment? Why not recycle or even sleep in.This is our small way of debunking the ‘throw away fashion’ movement and helping the environment somewhat as Silk is biodegradable.
We work with accredited factories who are expert craftsmen, the Chinese founded silk and know the yarn better than any other. We value our partnerships and work together to bring you Golden One.
Trust you will join us in the dance of silk.
Be Golden.

The silk legend was born thousands of years ago in the garden of Emperor Huang-Ti when his wife His Ling Shi went to investigate what was eating the leaves of the mulberry trees.
Venturing out, a cup of tea in hand, the Empress discovered little white worms spinning shining cocoons. Upon further inspection, she accidentally dropped one of the cocoons into her tea cup, causing it to unravel into a delicate filament. Drawing it out, a long single strand unwound that seemed long enough to cover the entire length of the garden! Empress Hsi Ling Shi had discovered silk and went on to develop the industry.
Whether the tale is correct or not, the Chinese were first to find and manufacture silk fabrics. They closely guarded how silk was produced for many years making it a scarcely available and a treasured commodity on trade routes. Ancient European demand for silk was so high, the first of the trade routes was coined ‘The Silk Road’.
With silk as the catalyst, an international market developed and flourished.

Silk is the fine thread with which a silkworm spins its cocoon. The silkworm pupates in its cocoon and emerges 20 days later as a moth. The thread that is produced by the spinning glands of the silkworm is one of the finest and strongest natural fibres used today.
Silk is a protein fibre, which means it is chemically quite similar to human skin. Because of this, silk is an ideal ‘second skin’ that feels divine against one’s skin. Silk contributes to your wellbeing because it is a natural, hypoallergenic fibre. Silk has a luminosity that creates a sense of luxury and sensuality like no other fabric can. Silk shines and is tactile with unique sheens that make colours radiate. Silk caresses, is supple and soft thanks to its fine and smooth fibre structure.Silk insulates and it can make you cool or warm. Silk is biodegradable so not so much pressure put on our earth. Silk can absorb moisture, while letting your skin breathe. Silk will never go mouldy and repels perspiration. Silk is luxurious, so the feeling of wearing it is transformative, making every moment special.
Silk, with all its special characteristics should be accessible.
At Golden One we are working towards that mission.
